Chances are that if a child has nothing exciting to do outside they will not get any exercise. Without something fun to do they will most likely wander around aimlessly and end up back indoors.

If they were to go outside and walk by a basketball it’s likely they are going to pick it up. Then they would see the hoop and take a few shots and before you know it there playing basketball and getting exercise.

If there are other children in your neighborhood a basketball hoop is a great way for your kids to make some new friends. Sometimes it is hard to start a conversation with someone new so a pickup game of basketball is an easy way to break the ice.

I had a kids basketball hoop in my driveway and the next door neighbors would always come and play with me when I would go out. My little sister and I were playing basketball on her hoop when some kids from the neighborhood came over to play with us. They fill the base of it with water or sand and then roll it to where ever they would like to play. The height is adjustable so she will have it for as long as she wants unless her dad backs into it like my dad did when I was a kid.

Everybody (some adults included) had a great time playing that day proving that a kids basketball hoop is a good way for anybody to have fun and get exercise. Plus she made some friends who will play with her when I can’t be there to.
